Warmer weather finally allows for Wellness Week

After a rain-induced postponement, Manteca High’s annual Wellness Week will be held April 11-April 14.

The much-anticipated week was created for students to have time to relax and be in tune with their minds. The student body cares for the mental well-being of their fellow students.

Wellness Week was rescheduled mostly because of the wet weather the region experienced in recent weeks. Daisy Espinoza, creator of Wellness Week, explained how the cloudy weather has an effect on mental health.

“In my opinion, a week like this should be held when it is sunny and bright outside,” she said. “I do believe the weather being gloomy and rainy tends to put a lot of people down.

“This week seemed a bit stir crazy, and I wanted a warm and free week where students could thoroughly enjoy themselves while participating in activities.”

Leadership is working tirelessly on making the week full of fun for the students. The most exciting activity they have planned is the animal day.

“Wellness Week was postponed because I was quite unsure about the details of animal day,” Espinoza said. “Last year, I was able to bring puppies through a certain rescue but this year, they are a bit overwhelmed. I am currently working with the Manteca Animal Shelter in hopes of bringing a few puppies through them. I am really excited to work with them.”
