Manteca High senior Madelaine Patterson and junior Maddeson Watson were named Students of the Month for the month of October. The students were selected by the Ag Department, acknowledging their focus and work ethic.

Teachers Heather Nolan and MaryAnn Tolbert spoke to The Tower about their participation in class and the effort they put in on everything. Both ladies are great at participating in class and involved in conversations, the teachers said, and equally as involved in school activities.

“Both are really good, active in class, they answer questions, they do announcements as officers they come into classrooms and announce things to kids, but as students they’re outstanding,” Nolan said. “One hundred percent, they’re great kids, both great young ladies.”

Nolan has both students in her classroom and added that their participation in class is fantastic. They both are very attentive and participate, Nolan said.

Patterson did not expect to be named as one of the students of the month.

“Madelaine got chosen as Student of the Month because she is the most responsible organized student I know,” said Tolbert, who advises and instructs Patterson in the Link Crew course. “She volunteers for everything. She works to make each detail of a project (standout). She does an amazing job in everything.”

Patterson juggles many responsibilities.

While babysitting her siblings and working three jobs, Patterson also participates in many clubs, such as FFA, CSF, and the Bible Club. She was also part of HOSA . She works for three different jobs. She works for Parks and Recreation on Saturdays and for her church on Wednesday nights in the nursery.

Maddeson Watson is a junior at Manteca High. She was named a Student of the Month for the month of October by the Ad Department.

Watson is an excellent student. She focuses on what needs to be done and gets it done. Her participation in class is very good. She is in FFA and does many things to help the organization.

“I go to the school farm at our district office and work with bees on Wednesday mornings and on Thursday evenings. I work with sheep and goats and help them take care of them,” says Watson, a junior.

Nolan has Watson as a student and teacher’s assistant. Nolan thinks she is a great student and gets things done on time.

“She does a lot of behind-the-scenes work, especially when she is my TA,” Nolan said.
