Sound Off: Best and worst from prom 2024

Prom can be a memorable experience, but its success often hinges on various factors. In my case, prom was a mixed bag. The night started with a bang, filled with excitement and anticipation. The atmosphere was buzzing with laughter, cheers, and the glamorous outfits of my classmates. It was a promising beginning that set high expectations for the rest of the evening.
However, as the night progressed, one disappointment stood out—the music choice. The DJ's playlist seemed disconnected from the vibe of the event. Instead of playing romantic and slow music worthy tunes that would have elevated the energy and kept everyone with there date on the floor, the music felt dull and uninspiring. It failed to capture the essence of celebration that prom should embody, leaving many of us feeling disconnected from the moment.
Despite this setback, there was a silver lining the food. The culinary delights served at prom were a delightful surprise. From appetizers to desserts, every bite was a burst of flavors that delighted the taste buds. It was a culinary journey that added a touch of luxury and enjoyment to the evening, making up for the lackluster music experience.
In retrospect, while the music choice dampened the overall mood, the delicious food and the fun-filled beginning salvaged the night, leaving me with mixed feelings about my prom experience.

I did not attend prom this year because I’m a sophomore, so I don’t see much of a point. I would like to save the experience for when I’m a junior or senior. Next year I hope my prom experience is very entertaining. I want the food to be bomb!! There better be some good Alfredo pasta because that’s one of my favorite foods. One part that better be lit is the music. I want the music to be fun and turned up to the max. I hope everyone dances. One thing I dislike is when someone says an event is boring but doesn’t even get up to enjoy the best part of the night. Overall, I hope my senior year is the most memorable and I hope my dress is cute.

The best part of prom was being able to dress up formally and going with my date. On top of that, the photos that we took before serve as a memory for our future selves. I believe that the only “bad” thing about prom was how long the food took to be served. The food was decent, with a piece of chicken or steak. It included salad, pasta, as well as bread. They also included a dessert of cheesecake.

The best part of prom was probably shopping for makeup and the preparation leading up to prom. Besides that, I enjoyed taking pictures with my date and receiving red roses. My favorite picture we took was my date lifting me and almost dropping me. The picture was cute though. My least favorite thing about prom was how long it took to get refills on drinks or to get the food. I disliked the dessert it tasted sour. The food was super good though.

I did not go to prom this year; I plan on going next year. Instead, I went to LA to go meet my dad’s family. If I went to prom, I would want it to be a good theme. I would wear a cute long dress. I would want it to be fun with a good DJ, good music, and with my girlfriend. I don’t really have that many expectations when it comes to prom; just as long as my friends go, I will have fun.

Prom this year was fun. The music was good and the food was OK. The stuff I enjoyed the most were the things before and after prom. The pictures were fun and came out good. The after parties were super fun, too. Next year, I am planning to go again. Hopefully, it is a little more fun than it was this year.
