Family ties: Brothers’ sense of style inspired by elders

Brothers Nick and Anthony Garcia are student athletes at Manteca High school, playing football, basketball and baseball.

Along with playing well, the Garcia brothers. who share a passion for rare and exotic sneakers, want to look the part, as well. They value dressing well as much as playing well, and their sense of style is a gift handed down from their older family members.

Nick Garcia says he “looks up to his uncle,” who wore Jordans all through high school and passed down that love to his nephews.

Anthony Garcia looks up to his dad.

“If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be in the shoe game,” he said. “The Jordan Bred (black and red) 4s is the shoe that my Dad was wearing when I wanted to be a sneakerhead just like him.”

Together, the brothers own and share 20 pairs of shoes, ranging from Crocs to Jordans.

The Tower caught up with the fly twosome to talk about their shoe collection.

The Tower: When did you first become a Sneakerhead?

Nick Garcia: Shoes have been going around me since I was a kid and around the family.

TT: Did it bring you closer to that family member you got inspired by?

NG: Yeah, A lot closer.

TT: What’s your least and favorite pair of shoes?

Anthony Garcia: My least favorite pair would have to be the Jordan 2s.

NG: My least favorite pair would be the Jordan 6’s, I don’t really like them.

TT: Do sports affect your shoe game?

NG: I like to dress nice on and off the field. It brings more spark to my outfits.

TT: Do you guys have a select pair while you are playing your sport?

AG: I go for a comfortable look. Nike or vans, preferably.

TT: How do you dress?

NG: I like to dress lazy with like crocs.

TT: How do you pick your shoes out?

AG: It goes from the top to bottom (matching).

NG: Same for me, too.
